The Tsomoriri trek begins with an 85-kilometer drive from Leh City to Gya village. It offers opportunities to interact with local nomads tending to their herds of goats and yaks in the mountains and passes. If fortunate, you may spot wild animals and birds, including black-necked cranes. The midpoint, Tsomoriri Lake, or Korzok, serves as the headquarters for nomadic people. After exploring the lake, the trek continues to Kibber via Parang La. This unique trek traverses the Rupshu region of southeast Ladakh, characterized by high-altitude arid plains, gentle mountain ranges, and saltwater lakes like Tso Kar and Tso Moriri, inhabited solely by pastoral nomads. Crossing seven days, the journey encompasses several high passes, with the highest being Kyamayuru La at 5410m altitude. Due to the challenging terrain and altitude, proper acclimatization is essential before embarking on this trek.
